Loretta (Lori)'s Story
I got married when I was 20, married the man of my dreams, Ray Hall. He was from Montana and stationed at Fort Ord in the Army. We got married and lived in Polson, Montana for a year and a half and had our first daughter Kelly in '74. Moved to Carmel Valley in 1974 and Ray worked on Rancho Chupinos doing ranching and dryland farming and our second daughter, Erin, was born there in '75. In 1978 we moved to Whitmore, Ca a little town about 35 miles out of Redding where Ray worked for a logging company and used his G.I. Bill to go back to school. Zackary, our son was born here in '78. We found out about the apprentice program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, Wa in 1980 and moved here and have been here ever since. tarted substituting on the playground and in the lunchroom at the grade school they attended. Then a friend asked me if I'd be interested in working at the transportation department. I was a bus assistant for a year and a half and then realized that I had driven large vehicles and could learn to drive a school bus. I drove for special education for 23 years and retired 3 years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the job and it fulfilled my need of being the caregiver type.
We live about 11 miles out of Bremerton in an area called Seabeck. We have 2 1/2 acres, a home we pretty much built ourselves, a large garden, a dog, a horse (you have to have fertilizer if you're going to have a garden!!) but most of all we have each other. Life is good, both our daughters are married and have 4 children each and our son is engaged. Yes, we have 8 grandkids!! 3 girls and 5 boys, what a group!! We are blessed to say the least.
